About Us.

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here! We hope and believe that you will experience this slogan of our denomination, the United Church of Christ, and the radical hospitality and inclusive love demonstrated by Jesus of Nazareth when you worship with us. As an “Open and Affirming” community, we affirm that people of all races, nationalities, sexual orientations, incomes, and mental and physical abilities are equally loved and embraced by God.

The mission of the United Church of Christ, Fremont is to be a place where all grow in love for God, neighbor and creation. We are a welcoming, diverse church that provides opportunities for fellowship in which meaningful relationships may flourish. We seek to nurture each person’s spiritual well-being and to be a safe place where everyone is free to explore and deepen faith in an environment open to questions and doubts. We believe faith comes to life in what we do, and we are committed to following Jesus and serve our community and our world with kindness and compassion.

A Church of and for the Community

UCC Fremont is deeply involved in the Centerville, Fremont, and Tri-City communities. We are generous contributors to ABODE (which supports low-income and homeless people in establishing secure housing.)

Seeking Justice and Honoring Creation

We celebrate a strong heritage of working for peace and social justice—standing up for those who are voiceless in society in the Tri-City area. We support many local, national, and international agencies that provide help to those in need. We actively participate in Congregations Organization for Renewal (COR), a local affiliate of the PICO, a national interfaith network of community organizing which empowers people to work for economic and social justice.

We Take the Bible Seriously but Not Literally

In our weekly and lively Bible study sessions and Sunday services, we use the stories and teachings of scripture primarily as a tool for personal and social transformation. Through the Bible, we affirm “God Is Still Speaking” to us today. We celebrate the wisdom found in diverse interpretations.

Dialogue and Partnership with Other Faiths

We have a tradition of learning from and engaging with people of diverse faith traditions. While Jesus is our path to God, we draw from diverse sources of wisdom and honor the rightness of different paths for others. We have invited people of other faith communities to share and partnered with them. We are members of the Tri-City Interfaith Council.

A Caring Community

We are a small but growing, progressive, family-friendly, open-minded, and justice-seeking Christian community. We like to celebrate together (and seldom miss an excuse to eat together!) If you would like to be part of a group of people who know one another, who share the joys and sorrows of our lives, who have fun together, and who seek to grow together in faith, please come and see if we are right for your journey. While we do not have all the programs of some larger churches, we provide opportunities for fellowship, service, and engagement that larger churches cannot. In an often impersonal world, sometimes “small is beautiful.”
